The Blackwell family have been farming at Herons Farm near Coggeshall, Essex for four generations, with a proud farming heritage dating back to the 1930s. Committed to supporting British farming and local producers, over 90% of the produce sold through the business is sourced within 30 miles of the farm. Their team of skilled butchers, chefs and bakers work alongside trusted local farmers to provide high-quality food with full traceability and provenance. The farm is well known for its traditional poultry production, including free-range bronze turkeys, geese, chickens and ducks. Alongside this, Blackwells offers premium British beef, lamb, pork and a wide range of farm shop favourites sourced from trusted local suppliers. In 2004, the family launched The Rare Breed Meat Company, supplying premium meat to leading butchers, food halls and some of the UK's most respected restaurants, including The Ned, Trinity and Hawksmoor. Today, Blackwells Farm Shop & The Rare Breed Meat Company continue to champion quality British produce, supporting local farmers while delivering exceptional food directly to customers.
