Hello, I'm Lancashire Sauce.

Grandma Entwistle's Legacy The story of Lancashire Sauce began in a humble chip shop in Padiham, Lancashire, where my grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Entwistle, first created her distinctive tangy sauce—a unique family recipe that, at the time, had no name. My parents, Kenneth and Kathleen Entwistle, recognised its potential and began preparing batches of the sauce to share with family and friends. Before long, it had become a much-loved staple at family gatherings. In 2001, my wife Sarah and I took a bold step by leaving our careers to open Entwistle's Deli in Ramsbottom. While building the business and raising our three young children, we decided it was time to introduce our treasured family recipe to customers. The only thing missing was a name. After plenty of lively family discussions around the dinner table with our children—Sam, James and Jasmine—we settled on the obvious choice: Lancashire Sauce. What began as a family favourite quickly developed a loyal following across Lancashire before spreading throughout the UK. All three of our children played a part in the business, helping with production and supporting the growth of the brand. Early homemade labels may have raised a few smiles, but as demand increased and the branding evolved, repeat orders grew and independent retailers and distributors began to take notice. A Flavourful Partnership One of the most memorable milestones came with an unexpected phone call from potato farmer John Fiddler of Rufford, who was launching his own premium crisp range and wanted Lancashire Sauce as one of the signature flavours. After a visit to the farm and a handshake, a partnership was formed. The result was the much-loved Lancashire Sauce flavour of Fiddler's Lancashire Crisps—a collaboration that celebrated two proudly Lancashire businesses. A New Chapter After more than twenty successful years, Sarah and I made the difficult decision to sell the deli in November 2021 so we could focus entirely on Lancashire Sauce. Today, production takes place in our dedicated unit near Accrington, where every batch is still handcrafted to Grandma Entwistle's original recipe. More than a century after it was first created, Lancashire Sauce remains a true family business—produced with the same care, quality and heritage that inspired it all.
